Connor and I are closing on a house in a few weeks, and it will be bittersweet to say goodbye to our first place. Connor’s been here for almost a full year, and I joined him after our wedding in February. After years of bouncing from Montana to Brazil to Oxford, OH, I loved every bit of making this place a home. Almost every decoration is a memory for me: the wooden elephant that my dad brought me back from Thailand as a kid, the gold dipped candles my mom and I made for our wedding, the kiwi bird that my sister got me after my semester abroad in New Zealand. Many items are antique finds on the road between Miami & IU, and others are Etsy orders or cherished gifts. While all of these items will be coming with us to our new place, I am undoubtedly sentimental about packing them in boxes for a short trip down the road.
I’m not trying to show off our home here- please note the smudged computer screen and cluttered desk. I really just wanted to take the time to document and preserve real life in our first shared home. It’s only fitting that there’s a big cozy blanket on the couch and Hoosier Proud mailers under my desk. We love you 1111. Thanks for the pool days and walks on the Monon and your walls that make it near impossible to hang anything.
On to our next adventure.
